Magical Ballet Journey: Celebrating The Nutcracker and the World Ballet Series

Greetings from the heart of the World Ballet Series! With a deep reverence for classical ballet, we weave tales on stage that resonate across cultures and time. One such story, forever cherished in our repertoire, is The Nutcracker. Let’s embark on a journey through its captivating history and our unique rendition that has enchanted audiences nationwide.

Born from the quill of E.T.A. Hoffmann and later reimagined by Alexandre Dumas père, The Nutcracker’s tale was bestowed a melodious heartbeat by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s breathtaking score. It is a story brimming with Christmas charm, fantastical battles, and magical kingdoms, a narrative thread that has been cherished for generations.

Imagine a cozy Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum residence, alive with twinkling decorations and filled with merriment. Among the gifts the eccentric godfather Drosselmeyer distributed, young Marie receives a peculiar wooden Nutcracker. What unfolds is a magical midnight saga where toys come to life, mice wage wars, and a Nutcracker Prince escorts Marie to the whimsical Land of Sweets, where they’re regaled with dances from across the globe.

As storytellers of these classic tales, we at the World Ballet Series add our unique artistic flair to our productions while honoring the narrative’s roots. Our version of The Nutcracker, meticulously choreographed by Lev Ivanov and given
a fresh touch by George Birkadze, unfolds over two acts, delivering a thrilling ballet experience of 85 minutes.

A distinctive feature of our production is the exquisite detail lavished on over 150 hand-sewn costumes and painstakingly crafted sets. Coupled with Tchaikovsky’s music, they form a harmonious symphony that transports our audience into the story’s enchanted realm.

Our dance team, made up of 50 professional ballet dancers from 10 different countries, brings a unique international flair to our performances. At the forefront is the illustrious Konstantin Geronik as the Nutcracker Prince, whose charismatic stage presence and dramatic interpretation leave audiences spellbound.

Filling the shoes of Clara, also known as Marie in some versions, the dreamy child who guides us through this magical world is the phenomenal Ekaterina Malkovich. In our performances, we stay true to the original name Clara, bringing a touch of authenticity. Her portrayal of Clara brims with innocence and bravery, embodying the character’s spirit in every step and leap.

Egor Azarkevich, our formidable Drosselmeyer, injects his character with a blend of mystery and intrigue, delivering a riveting performance that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

We don’t just perform ballet at the World Ballet Series—we celebrate it. Our rendition of The Nutcracker is not merely a performance; it is an experience, a journey into a world of dreams, courage, and the magic of the holiday season.

This festive season, we extend a warm invitation to join us on this remarkable journey.
